Single Tree Arts, 8th week of The Postal/Mail Art Exhibition, “Back to Basics”, received a piece by artist Jyoti Duwadi. Untitled, Acrylic on Nepali paper, 2020. This piece ties well into the concept of written communication. It is a piece of visual movement that evokes an ancient script or language. As the artist has indicated in the past it also relates to jazz music, similar to a musical score.

The repositories of our collective culture are being despoiled by this virus. Schools, museums, libraries, and stages are dark, and when we reopen, masks will be a part of our new social lives. When protests resume in our streets, shouts for freedom will be muffled by by gauze-Ai Weiwei.

Christian Mounger, Untitled, brochure cover and photography, 2020. The piece consists of an economic development piece with an abstract montage series of six photos. The work is an interesting play on a promotional piece and the interpretation and observations of “place”. By using traditional wallpaper patterns the artist explores history, memory, and possibly nostalgic notions.
Single Tree Arts, the 8th week of The Postal/Mail Art Exhibition, “Back to Basics”, received a piece by an anonymous artist from Hong Kong, our first international submission. The image is of the Beijing Olympic stadium(2008 games). The text is a strong statement about world cooperation instead of world competition. Single Tree Arts, in the 8th week of The Postal/Mail Art Exhibition, “Back to Basics”, received a piece by artist Cidne Hart, Slender Leaf Ice Plant, Cyanotype, 2020(part of the Sanctuary Shadows Series). The piece brings up two prevailing thoughts, the idea of time related process and sheltering in place, and the concept of sanctuary, which we are all addressing in some form.
In the 8th week of the postal art exhibition “Back to Basics”, Singletreearts received a piece by artist James Lilly, Essential, acrylic on wood, 2020. The piece reminds us of a traditional sign that you might find hanging in a shop in small town America, but the narrative is much more complex, it leaves the viewer contemplating the deeper meaning and adding their own subtext.
